Stratus Healthcare is a collaborative partnership formed to create a network of hospitals, health care systems, and physicians. Stratus Healthcare is the largest alliance of its kind in the Southeast of independent not-for-profit hospital systems primarily located in Central and South Georgia.

Members of Stratus Healthcare will work together to build a clinically integrated network, to exchange best practices, and where appropriate combine resources. This will include the development of coordinated information systems along with developing the technology and skills required to manage the health of populations. This collaboration is in response to the increased financial pressures on rural hospital systems and the emphasis will be to provide the right patient care, in the right setting, at the right price while maintaining the financial health of each institution. With physician leadership and best in class administrative management, we are improving the health and access to care of the citizens of our region.

How will Stratus HealthCare benefit patients?

A collaborative effort on computer technology will allow for the timely exchange of patient information that will improve outcomes and prevent duplication or over-utilization of health care services. Shared services will be designed to carve out costs among member organizations and add value for patients, employers and payors.

What opportunities are being explored by the Stratus work groups?

The early work groups to date have explored primary care, emergency medicine, hospitalist and specialty care networks to include the development of clinical guidelines, telemedicine, transfer arrangements and the sharing of outcomes data. Other work groups will examine a computer technology platform and data warehouse capabilities which will allow for the seamless exchange of electronic medical information; collective purchasing, an integrated clinical network and shared business resources.

How will hospital employees be affected by this collaborative?
